Better health leads to a better you. Our wellness center is available to all members for strength, cardio, endurance, flexibility and agility training. Additional training classes, like equipment instruction and developing a proper workout routine, are also available to help you get the most out of your workout.
This class helps build self-esteem, confidence, discipline, leadership skills, and fundamentals of self-defense. Currently, 120 individuals, the majority of which are youth between the ages of 14 and 18, participate in the program.
Soccer classes are designed to help improve sports skills while emphasizing fun, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
We ensure that a child’s first sport's experience is a positive one! Toddlers will get to explore basketball, football, soccer and baseball in a fun learning environment.

Talk about a wet and wild experience when you swim at The L.A. Red Shield! We have an outdoor swimming pool perfect for exercise, splashing with friends, and learning how to swim. Our Aquatics Department is dedicated to providing quality classes and training no matter your age or ability.
Learning how to swim is a critical component of every child's development. The L.A. Red Shield provides swim lessons for all ages, from infant to adults. Instructors make swimming lessons fun and help students develop both swimming skills and self confidence.

A great place for children to learn and grow.
The objectives of the Learning Center are to reinforce the academic skills taught in school and encourage children to develop positive attitudes toward learning. The center is equipped with a book lending program and eight computers and printers to help you with homework.
Open to kids and adults, the computer lab includes 20 computers that are utilized for classes, and an additional 18 computers for open use. Computer classes include:
• Computer Basics
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Basic Graphic Design
• Beginner HTML
Teens participate in a variety of activities including academic support and tutoring, computer learning, recreation, fundraisers, community garden clean up and sports. Teens also receive one on one mentoring with any personal and/or school related problems.
The curriculum is unique to each student and is developed around their current interests. Students provide input on what and how they would like to learn something.
Teen Club Meets twice a month, mostly on Mondays nights.

Whether it’s learning to play an instrument or read music, taking a shot at singing, dancing, or acting, or learning to draw and paint, there is a place to develop your talent and pursue your dreams here at The L.A. Red Shield.
Mariachi Music Instruction: Kids ages 7 and up will have a blast using a variety of instruments including violin, guitar, guitarron, vihuela, and trumpet. Class also includes lessons on music theory and vocal instruction. Led by Lieutenant Angel Amezquita.

Students will learn how to draw with pencils, pens, charcoals and pastels in a workshop environment were they can practice drawing while receiving an instructor’s guidance .
VIEW CURRENT CLASSES
The Children's Theatrical Performance class sponsored by the City of Alhambra Community Services Department provides children with basic experience in acting techniques, stage directions, simple set designs, and lighting and sound training.
Students from the class work on all aspects of production including lighting, sound, costumes, props, set designs, promotion and publicity. The results –such as the performance of “Allison and the Magic Street Lamp”– are complete, full-scale, professional presentations that include music, dance drama and comedy.
The City Ballet of Los Angeles Urban Outreach Program provides children from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas of Los Angeles ballet training at no cost.
Urban Outreach currently reaches over 500 children annually through the Elementary School Partnership Program which takes ballet into the public elementary school curriculum, and its Professional Training Program which offers 30 full scholarships to study at CBLA's home base at the Salvation Army Red Shield Youth & Community Center.
Through our program these students can compete with their peers at a national level.
